Another fantastic plan for your arrival day is to wander the streets of the Barrio Húmedo, which is located in the old town. In this area, you will find a lively atmosphere and a wide range of bars and restaurants that offer free tapas with each consumption.

Visiting the Romanesque and Jewish Quarters is also highly recommended, but to discover the city in depth you will need an extra day. If you want to add an extra night to your trip, to visit with tranquility Leon, please contact us.

Wheat fields and small orchards are the main attractions of the day. On the 17 kilometres that separate Leon from Villar Mazarife, you can stop to visit small villages in Leon such as Trobajo del Camino, Oncina de la Valdoncina and Chozas de Abajo.

On quiet trails, surrounded by an agricultural landscape, today you will have the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful villages on the Camino Frances, Hospital de Orbigo. The entrance to the village is made over a beautiful medieval bridge, known as the Passo Honroso. We encourage you, during your visit, to investigate the beautiful love story that gives the place its name.
Leaving Hospital de Orbigo, you will find two possible routes to reach Astorga. We recommend you follow the path to the right, as the other runs along the road. On the road to the right you will continue the tour through a landscape of scrubland, in the company, first, of the River Orbigo, and then, River Tuerto.
After crossing several towns, such as Villares de Orbigo and San Justo de la Vega, you will reach the walled city of Astorga, one of the most interesting cities on the Camino de Santiago Frances. Here, you can enjoy its exquisite chocolate and visit the Palacio Episcopal, designed by Gaudí, and the Cathedral Rosa, among other places of interest.

After a few more kilometres in ascent, you will reach the highest point on the Camino Frances, la Cruz de Hierro, where pilgrims traditionally throw a stone and make a wish.
