    Day 1
    Arrival in Santander
    Santander is a beautiful city, which will seduce you from the first minute. The capital of Cantabria has many places where you can enjoy its sea and mountain environment, such as one of its eleven urban beaches or one of its viewpoints.

    The city also has many places of interest, such as the Palacio de la Magdelena or the Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion Cathedral, not to mention its excellent gastronomy. To fully discover this Cantabrian gem, it is necessary to have at least two days, so if you have time, we recommend adding an additional night to your trip in Santander.     Day 2
    From Santander to Arce
    On the first stage of the Camino del Norte from Santander, you will have the opportunity to visit towns such as Santa Cruz de Bezana, Mompia and Boo de Pielagos. At the end of the tour you will cross a beautiful medieval bridge to head to Arce, where the stage concludes.

    Distance: 16 kilometres.

    Day 3
    From Arce to Santillana del Mar
    Today you will enjoy a mountainous environment and visit places such as Miengo and Suances. The day ends in the beautiful town of Santillana del Mar, from where you can visit the Altamira Caves.

    In the town centre you will also find various attractions such as the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana or numerous Baroque palaces. We recommend that you take advantage of your visit to try Santillana cake, very typical of the town.

    Day 4
    From Santillana del Mar to Comillas
    On this stage you will enjoy one of the most beautiful natural places in the region, the Oyambre Natural Park. You will also have the opportunity to visit places of great cultural value such as the Cistercian Monastery in Cobreces.

    The day ends in the beautiful town of Comillas. In it, you will find various attractions such as the Capricho de Gaudi, the Palacio de Sobrellano or the Universidad Pontifica in Comillas.

    Day 5
    From Comillas to Unquera
    Today you will advance along the Cantabrian cornice, through wooded sections. On your path, you will find numerous estuaries, interesting geological formations and charming villages such as San Vicente de la Barquera.

    The stage ends in Unquera, the last town in Cantabria. We recommend you try the delicious Corbatas de Unquera, a sweet made with almonds, flour and sugar.

    Distance: 28 kilometres.

    Accommodation: Overnight in Unquera.

    Day 6
    From Unquera to Llanes
    Leaving Unquera, and after crossing the bridge of the River Deva, you will enter Asturias, the cradle of cider. The first Asturian town that will cross your path is Colombres, where you will find numerous Indiano houses.

    Then, you will find two options to complete the tour to Llanes. One is to follow the official path of the Camino de Santiago, which has a beautiful landscape, but follows the path of the main road. The other is to follow the route of the GR path that runs near the sea.

    The end of the day is especially picturesque. Llanes is a beautiful fishing village that still retains some of its strong fishing tradition. On its streets, you will find various points of interest such as the remains of its ancient medieval wall or several palaces.

    Day 7
    From Llanes to Ribadesella
    On your last day of walking you will enjoy numerous fishing villages and various beaches, such as Palombina and Barro. You’ll even find some stretches that you can complete walking through the sand.

    The day will not lack visits of interest such as the Los Dolores Church, located next to the marshes, or the Church of San Pedro de Pria, located on top of a hill and with excellent panoramic views of the region.

    Day 8
    Ribadesella
    To conclude the trip, you can enjoy the charming fishing village of Ribadesella. On its beautiful streets you will find various points of interest such as the Palacio de Pietro Cutre or the Church of Santa Maria Magdelena.

    In the vicinity of the village there are also several archaeological sites such as the Lloseta Caves or a route along the cliffs that allows you to explore dinosaur footprints. In addition, the village has several nearby beaches where you can relax and enjoy the Cantabrian Sea.
